Both fencing teams performed well on Thursday. The men's team defeated Stevens Institute of Technology in a dual meet 22-5 and 18-9. NYU swept all three weapons in both matches. Five Violets won three matches apiece in the two matches, while no less than six fencers won two matches each.
The women's team had an even easier time with Fairleigh Dickinson University, sweeping the dual meet 23-4 and 21-6. FDU forfeited the foil bouts in both matches, giving NYU automatic 9-0 wins in those events. Four fencers won three matches apiece for NYU, while two others chalked up two victories.
The two teams compete next on Saturday, Dec. 1 at Princeton University against Princeton, Harvard University, Vassar College, the University of North Carolina and Penn State.
