Broome Street residence hall is a hidden gem located right in Nolita near SoHo. The dorm has beautiful hardwood floors and the rooms tend to be pretty big suites that can house two, three, five, six or 11 people. Most suites (except for the loft studio apartments) have a common area as well as a kitchen area with a dining room table, so you're not always on top of your roommates. Most of the rooms have an abundance of windows, some facing the street side and some facing the historic Old Police Headquarters Building. Broome has AC units in each room as well as heating.
There is a large variety of food nearby, with Little Italy around the corner and Chinatown a mere five-minute walk away. All around Broome are the quaint art galleries SoHo is famous for, as well as lots of trendy shopping destinations like Topshop.
One thing "Broomies" complain about is the noise of the subway, which runs under the building, but it's only a problem for those living on floors two and three. Broome is also the Upperclass Residential College dorm, meaning if you want to continue or join the program, the residence hall offers "streams" and ResCollege events. You don't have to be a part of the ResCollege, however, to live in Broome. Many people live here who aren't a part of it.
There is a grocery/deli accessible from Broome's lobby, which is open 24/7, so you'll never run out of drinks and snacks. The NYU bus also comes to Broome about every 20 minutes, so even though the distance isn't bad; when you're running late to class you can easily catch the bus.
