In a peaceful part of New York, many graduate students can jog around playgrounds, unwind near central parks and commune with fellow residents in private cafés. Located between 14th and 20th streets and between First Avenue and FDR Drive, Stuyvesant Town provides New Yorkers with an atmosphere of serenity and a suburban feeling that you can't quite get in the rest of the city. Grassy lawns separate each apartment complex and NYU provides individual two-bedroom, two-person apartments in various buildings in the area.
Although it is a 30-minute walk to the Washington Square campus, Stuy Town is great for medical and dental students with a brief walk to both centers. But unless you're a Stern student or GSAS McCracken scholar, then you're out of luck, since Stuy Town is limited to those two groups. No worries, though, NYU-standard amenities such as a telephone line, cable and Internet are not offered.
