Stuyvesant Town is an ideal destination for NYU students who are looking to get out of the dorms and are willing to trade a little bit of personality for some convenience, practicality and a few extra bucks to spend on beer and cheap furniture from IKEA.

The complex, which stretches from 14th St. and First Ave. to 20th Street and Avenue C, has one, two and three bedroom apartments available for rent. Residents have access to several parks and lawns, which are good places to study or take breaks. An NYU trolley also runs along 14th Street providing residents with a fairly quick and easy way of getting to classes.

The rooms are big and provide residents with modern convenience — microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher. Although laundry runs a little over $3 a load, you can learn to cope.
Stuy Town is a fairly nice place to live — that is, if you find the right apartment.

But be careful when choosing an apartment in Stuy Town — although a top floor apartment on 14th and Avenue C may sound nice, with its river view and quiet neighborhood, I can assure you it is not. So, if you do decide to choose Stuy Town, be sure to get an apartment that's as close to 14th and First as possible — you'll regret it if you don't.
