Noon by Noor Spring/Summer 2013

Noon by Noor, a recent collaboration by Bahraini designers Shaikha Noor Rashid Al Khalifa and Shaikha Haya Al Khalifa, is marked by a combination of luxurious materials and intricate accents to create a modern, feminine look.

The brand did not disappoint at its Spring/Summer 2013 show in the Studio at Lincoln Center, where elegant silks and chiffons in both neons and muted colors with metallic and jeweled embellishments dominated.

Long, asymmetrical gowns and skirts in bright pinks and oranges flowed gracefully around the models’ ankles as they strutted down the runway in silver stilettos to casual, relaxed Adele and Prince hip-hop remixes.  Silky florals and muted colors like taupe and army green made appearances in the form of casual blouses, and both long and short one-piece jumpsuits.

The elegant, feminine pieces were peppered with masculine elements including metallic motorcycle and menswear jackets, tailored trousers and square shoulders. Several pieces included unexpected — though not quite out of place — elements, such as ’70s-inspired patterns in bright orange, pink and green, and large, bright green and yellow jeweled shoulder and hip accents.

The models sported sophisticated, pin-straight, slicked-back hairstyles and minimal makeup, which contributed to the overall luxurious-yet-ready-to-wear style of the show.
