Alejandro Ingelmo Spring/Summer 2014

From the industrial location and its trendy atmosphere to the sharp silhouettes and varying textures of every shoe, designer Alejandro Ingelmo was all about the details with his Spring/Summer 2014 collection at The Standard, High Line Hotel.

Hailing from Miami, Florida, Ingelmo comes from a long line of shoe designers. His grandfather founded Ingelmo Shoes in Cuba, and his business flourished throughout much of the early 20th century. Ingelmo credits his grandfather’s designs as inspiration for his own collections, which represent a marriage between his Cuban roots and New York City style. This collection was similar in that the details seemed to tell a story of contrasting creative visions that fit together seamlessly.

Ingelmo’s collection encompassed shoes for both men and women, and although the styles were very different, together they were united under similar color palettes and metallic details. The Spring/Summer 2014 collection featured mostly neutrals and pastels with pops of iridescent metallic leather that brightened up the dimly lit space. For the women’s collection, geometric cutouts and wings, glossy patent leather, and sharp pointed toes truly made the high heels stand out. One of the most stunning designs was a pair of gladiator-inspired, black leather knee-high heels with cutouts along the sides and gold leather accents running down the front.

As for the men’s collection, black leather high tops and trainers were on trend, each featuring a unique twist. Some had Ingelmo’s signature gold metallic shapes and piping, while others included different printed furs, such as soft grey with chocolate polka dots or hunter green with grey and brown camouflage. One of the designs that really stood out was a shiny, green metallic high top sneaker with geometric shapes and white laces and soles.

Ingelmo’s newest collection does not disappoint, as he truly brings modernity and edginess to this spring season.
