LIE SANGBONG Spring/Summer 2015

It’s under the enchanting sound of violins that LIE SANGBONG’S first model stepped foot on his “Dream Road.” For this coming Spring/Summer 2015 season, the Korean fashion designer transported us into a world full of promises and optimism. The collection, oneiric and serene, displayed butterfly, floral and cloud motifs on a variation of luxurious fabrics, including silk jacquard, linen, silk organza, silk chiffon and fine cotton.

Using the sky and butterflies as inspiration, Mr. Lie chose white, turquoise, cobalt and purple as chief colors.

The collection complemented the feminine body with ease, simplicity and rigor, sometimes thanks to a flowing, slightly transparent white dress with butterfly prints, other times with a delicate X-shaped jacket.

However, the emphasis on femininity did not exclude the touches of vitality and toughness featured in many of the outfits. One of the most striking examples was a hard, gleaming, armor-like corset on top of a white shirt that Mr. Lie presented as his last piece.

The unique runway installation, composed of 1,188 glass tiles featuring a collage of photos and prints similar to the ones in the collection, helped homogenize the entire show.

Through the inventive and tasteful beauty of his collection and set, LIE SANGBONG’S collection succeeded in creating a fantasy world where hardships are overcome and only joy, hope, and peacefulness reign.
