Desigual Fall/Winter 2015

Desigual’s Fall/Winter 2015 show was all positive and fun vibes. The music pumped through the Theatre at Lincoln Center and the models bounced down the runway with smiles on their faces, even stopping halfway to wave or high-five each other.

This carefree and fun-loving attitude came from the the collection itself. There was an abundance of abstract, colorful prints and patterns, which served to enhance Monsieur Christian Lacroix’s idea of a living canvas. The designs ranged from medieval to contemporary and reached for inspiration from Oriental, European and African art.

The Spanish label took a risk with their black and white pieces in this collection, as it is known primarily for a vibrant assortment of colors that emanate from each design. Placing these pieces in the middle of the show was an interesting choice, but did seem to disrupt the flow of the overall show.

Standout pieces included the embroidered overcoat that model Behati Prinsloo donned as she opened the show, and a faux-fur bomber jacket that was paired with patterned woven trousers. The pattern was abstract and the jacket itself was eye-catching among the dresses and skirts that came before and after.

The pieces were appropriately accessorized and almost every design was paired with a bag or a hat adorned with exotic flowers.

Adriana Lima, who walked for Desigual’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection, Katie Holmes, and Stassi Schroeder from the reality show Vanderpump Rules, all watched from the front row as the Barcelona-based brand showed how we can pull inspiration for how we dress from all over the globe.
