Matiere S/S 2017

Matiere presented their spring/summer 2017 collection at Skylight Clarkson but when entering Platform 2, guests were transported to a beach resort. The models were dressed in ensembles best described as trendy tourists. Beach linens, Birkenstocks paired with socks, wide brimmed hats and lighter hues comprised this collection.

One model donned a salmon short sleeve shirt with a classic Peter Pan collar, paired with dark heather grey shorts that had a tie belt. The look was complete with a black wide brimmed hat and oversized sunglasses. The juxtaposition of warm and cool colors provides a great example that no color is limited to just one season.

Blue ombre stood out in this collection. One model had an ombre ensemble top to bottom, wearing a blue ombre sweater and shorts. Other blue ombre items included jackets and chinos. A trend normally limited to women in seasons past is making a comeback, displaying how no trend is truly limited to just one gender.

Matiere geniusly played with structure and texture to upgrade any beachgoer’s closet and played with various hues allowing these clothes to transcend the shores of a beach to the streets of a city. While tourists do not have the best reputation for clothing choices, that will surely change if tourists opt to wear Matiere’s latest collection.
