What's your personal style?

I aim to look put-together, although not necessarily flashy or avant-garde. I'm not obsessed with my appearance and try to look laid-back. But I still try to look like I care.

Who is your style inspiration?

I don't have one celebrity that inspires me in particular, but I read a lot of magazines and read the Sartorialist blog just to get a sense of what people are wearing. I also really enjoy people-watching, so if I see someone who is wearing something cool, I'll make note of it and try to incorporate it into my wardrobe.

What trend are you currently following?

It's not really a trend, but more of a philosophy. I feel like previously at NYU people tried to look like hobos. But as we get older, there is more of a drive to develop your own style and not to be afraid to look good. That is what I am trying to do.

What is your favorite piece in your wardrobe?

It's pretty simple, but I love a good pair of jeans. If they fit well and feel good, it's really easy to build a good outfit off of them. My current favorites are my dark-wash Diesels.

What do you like on a woman?

Her clothes don't matter as long as she is wearing a good perfume. I mean, don't douse yourself in it, but if you walk by and I can smell it, it's really controlling.

Any advice for budding fashionistas?

Don't underestimate the power of sunglasses! A good pair can make you instantly more attractive. But you can't just buy any pair that looks good on the shelf. You have to make sure they match with your face shape and skin tone, and that they work for you personally. Definitely bring your friends so they can give you their opinions as well.
