We all know how to get to a clothing store, pick out a shirt, try it on and purchase it. But what's the journey a shirt makes before it ends up in our shopping bag? Trackmyt.com narrates this entire process.
Trackmyt.com is an interactive website by Anvil Knitwear Inc. that documents the complete course of a T-shirt —from its origin as a cottonseed to the hands of consumers. By inputting the track number on the tag of a T-shirt, within seconds you can know the path your T-shirt took. This green website also highlights the environmental impact of making one T-shirt.
"Trackmyt.com teaches kids, parents and educators how to be more environmentally responsible," Anvil President and CEO Anthony Corsano said.
According to earthtimes.org, Anvil decided to launch trackmyt.com after the federal government passed the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, requiring manufacturers to provide labels in all children's products to trace the item's history.
"Our goal in creating this site was not only to comply with industry requirements but to turn it into an educational experience and teach about our footprint and ecological impact," Corsano said.
