Christian Siriano presented a sharply tailored and surprisingly toned down spring collection at Eyebeam Studios today. His focus was on an effortless woman, absorbed in, perhaps, nothing at all. She wants to take a trip to Bora Bora, or, if the weather permits, Monaco. Those speckled beaches lent well to the tones Mr. Siriano played with: coral, sand stone, oyster, chartreuse and white.

He opened with a jersey stripe t-shirt and maxi crepe trumpet skirt in a neon chartreuse green. It felt like it took a cue from Raf Simmons's Jil Sander spring 2011 show, but instead was wearable for women off Madison Avenue.

There were moments when Mr. Siriano fell to his theatrics, but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. A silk patterned bustier with an organza pencil skirt that was frayed extensively brought the mature collection a flirtatious note. Paperbag wide leg trousers also made a number of appearances in the presentation. I wondered if women could wear the pants, which dragged against the floor. One trip on the 1 train to the Met would leave them ruined. Then again, I doubt Mr. Siriano's woman is taking them underground.

He ended with a tulle ball skirt in bright candy apple red with a matching silk striped bustier. It was fresh and showed that Mr. Siriano is not a one trick pony after all.
