The Brown Building, formerly known as the Asch Building, where the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire took place in 1911. The fire started on the 10th floor and traveled to the ninth and 11th floors, killing 146 garment workers. This was the worst workplace disaster in New York until the Sept. 11 attacks.
