In his welcome speech at the Sci Ed Innovators Conference, President Sexton praised the late Professor Sreyashi Jhumki Basu for promoting science education in New York City schools. "At NYU, we are dedicated not only to honoring her life, but to the advance of science," he said. "She saw that the scientific method and education in science could be a key to creating greater human understanding."
