Five wrestlers earned all-UAA honors for the Violets, the most for the three teams competing in the tournament.
Senior Sean Connors (165), juniors Matt Magill (157) and Steve Contino (133), sophomore Steve Massey (174), and freshman Sabino Galassi (184) went 2-0 in each of their weight classes. In addition to all-UAA honors, Galassi was named the UAA Freshman of the Year.
"Overall as a team, it was our most solid effort of the year," Magill said. Despite lingering injuries to some of the Violet starters, the junior captain spoke highly of his team's determination and resolve to overcome adversity in the home stretch of the season. It has been an up-and-down stretch for the Violets since the beginning of the spring semester; they have struggled, but have not dipped below .500 and seem to have picked up considerable momentum after their success this weekend. The team is now 10-10 this season and have put forth several strong performances at major tournaments.
"I think we were pleased walking away," Magill said of the team's mentality. "Having the most athletes make all-UAA was pretty big."
NYU competes in its final home match of the year next weekend when they take on the University of Scranton, Morrisville State College and McDaniel College at Coles Sports Center.
