Op Ed Live: Sexton’s Legacy

Steinhardt professor Ted Magder and co-chair of the WSN editorial board Edward Radzivilovskiy debate President John Sexton’s legacy, university governance, votes of no confidence, the NYU 2031 expansion plan, the controversial vacation home loan policies, and more.

This debate is based on Radzivilovskiy and Raquel Woodruff’s editorial calling for Sexton and Martin Lipton’s resignation in September 2013. Ted Magder rebutted the piece in a letter to the editor.

This faculty member is immensely proud of you, Edward. Well done on keeping your cool, focusing on the facts and not taking the bait of your debate counterpart’s condescension and double-talk, all too familiar to many of us in faculty circles, believe me. The integrity and seriousness that you demonstrated couldn’t have made for a starker contrast with apologists of the current administration still insisting on presenting themselves as independent-minded educators dedicated to faculty governance and our students’ intellectual and financial welfare.
