Crime Log: Aug. 24-Sept. 1

The NYU Department of Public Safety received one report of unlawful firearm discharge, two reports of larceny and one report of harassment between Aug. 24 and Sept. 1.

Firearm Discharge

On Aug. 31 at 11 p.m., a gun was fired in the western section of Washington Square Park. There were no injuries. There is no suspect in custody at
this time.

Larceny

On Aug. 30 at 10:30 p.m., a Tandon administrator reported that a power supply box was taken from Rogers Hall sometime between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Aug. 29. A police report was filed.

On Aug. 29 at 9:50 p.m., a vendor employee reported that his wallet, which contained cash, credit cards and personal identification, was taken from an employee locker in the Kimmel Center for University Life sometime between 3:50 a.m. on Aug. 19 and 12 p.m. on Aug. 28.

Harassment

On Aug. 28 at 9 p.m., a verbally aggressive man followed an NYU student on the east side of Broadway between Washington Place and Astor Place.  The man was part of a group of six and threatened to “knock him out.”  The student declined notifying the police.
