The NYU Department of Public Safety received 60 reports of larceny, 10 reports of controlled substance, 12 reports of harassment, seven reports of criminal mischief, three reports of trespass, two reports of rape, two reports of forcible fondling, one report of simple assault, one report of dating violence, one report of arson, one report of authorized technician repair, one report of motor vehicle theft, one report of burglary and one report of assault this semester.

 

Larceny

On Jan. 20 at 3:50 p.m. a student reported that his wallet was missing from a clinic cubicle in the Dental Center. Police notification was declined.

On Jan. 24 at 11:30 p.m. a student reported that two of his textbooks were missing from a study lounge in Carlyle Court Residence Hall. The report is under investigation.

On Jan. 25 at 12:44 p.m. a student in Tisch Hall reported that his headphones were missing from his desk after class. The case is still open and under investigation.

On Jan. 25 at 1:23 p.m. a student reported that his jacket was missing from a classroom in Tandon’s Rogers Hall. Police notification was declined.

On Jan. 25 at 1:45 p.m. a student at the Dental Center reported that her laptop was missing from a study lounge area. Police notification was declined.

On Jan. 25 at 8:25 p.m. a student at the Dental Center reported that her belongings were missing from a locker room. Police notification was declined.

On Jan. 26 at 6:25 p.m. a student at Carlyle Court reported that her overcoat was missing from her closet. Police notification was declined.

On Jan. 30 at 5:15 p.m. a student reported that her violin and violin case were stolen from Tisch Hall. The case remains under investigation.

On Jan. 31 at 12:35 p.m. a student reported that their bicycle was stolen outside of 194 Mercer St. Police notification was declined.

On Jan. 31 at 7:05 p.m. a student reported that her external hard drive was missing from a computer lab in 721 Broadway.

On Feb. 1 at 1:55 p.m. a student reported that backpack missing from a coat closet in the Dental Center. A police report was filed.

On Feb. 1 at 5:40 p.m. Public Safety reported that a student was prevented from stealing merchandise from the NYU Bookstore. The case has been closed and the student was referred to Wellness resources.

On Feb. 3 at 3:30 a.m. a student reported that her coat was missing from the seventh floor of Bobst Library. Police notification was declined.

On Feb. 6 at 4:15 p.m. a student reported that his laundry was missing from a dryer in the laundry room at Gramercy Green. Police notification was declined.

On Feb. 6 at 4:15 p.m. a student reported that items were missing from his locker at the Palladium Athletic Facility. The case is open and under investigation.

On Feb. 6 at 6:37 p.m. a student reported that his USB drive was missing from an art display in the 721 Broadway gallery. A police report was filed.

On Feb. 8 at 8:30 a.m. a faculty member reported that items were missing from her locker in the Dental Center. Police notification was declined.

On Feb. 8 at 5 p.m. a student reported that her bicycle was missing from the bike rack outside of Weinstein Hall. Police notification was declined.

On Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. a student reported that her wallet was missing from her coat inside Starbucks at 10 Waverly Pl. Police notification was declined.

On Feb. 11 at 6:45 p.m. a student reported that his laptop charging cable was missing from a study lounge in Founders Hall. Police notification was declined.

On Feb. 13 at 8:40 p.m. a student reported that her watch was missing from a restroom in Palladium Hall. Police notification was declined.

On Feb. 15 at 12 a.m. a student reported that their wallet was missing from a fourth floor study area in Bobst. A police report was filed.

On Feb. 15 at 10:50 a.m. a contractor reported that their backpack and its contents were missing from a stairwell at 726 Broadway. A police report was filed.

On Feb. 15 at 1:20 p.m. a student reported that their backpack and wallet were missing from a classroom in Tisch Hall. A police report was filed.

On Feb. 15 at 3:30 p.m. a student reported that their backpack, containing a laptop and other items, was missing from a classroom at Henry Kaufman Management Center. A police report was filed.

On Feb. 16 at 3:30 p.m. a student reported that their backpack was missing from the Starbucks at 10 Waverly Pl. Police notification was declined.

On Feb. 20 at 8:30 p.m. a student reported that their bike was missing from the railing in Schwartz Plaza. A police report was filed.

On Feb. 21 at 11:05 a.m. a staff member reported that their cellphone was missing from their office. A police report was filed.

On Feb. 21 at 5:30 p.m. a staff member reported that cases of soda were missing from a pantry in Vanderbilt Hall. Police notification was declined.

On Feb. 23 at 10:30 a.m. a student reported that her passport and visa were missing from her desk drawer in Carlyle. Police notification was declined.

On Feb. 26 at 2:30 a.m. Public Safety received a report from a student who said that their laptop was missing from a study lounge at Bobst. Police notification was declined.

On Feb. 26 at 10 p.m. a student reported a bicycle missing from a bike rack on Broadway and Waverly Place. The incident is under investigation.

On Feb. 27 at 11:02 a.m. a student’s cellphone was reported missing from the Basic Science building. Police notification was declined.

On Feb. 28 at 5:35 p.m. a student’s backpack was reported to be missing from Weinstein Hall. A police report was filed.

On March 1 at 9:05 p.m. a student reported that their jacket was missing from a locker at 404 Fitness Center. Police notification was declined.

On March 6 at 12:04 p.m. Public Safety apprehended a student attempting to remove textbooks from the NYU Bookstore without paying for them. The items were returned.

On March 7 at 8:15 p.m. a student reported that their laptop and bag were missing from Warren Weaver Hall. A police report was filed.

On March 9 at 1:05 p.m. a student reported that cash and their NYU ID were missing from their bag inside a locker room at the Dental Center. Police notification was declined.

On March 9 at 9:45 p.m. a student reported that their clothing was missing from University Hall’s laundry room. Police notification was declined.

On March 10 at 3:03 p.m. a professor reported that their cellphone was missing from a cubicle at the Dental Center. Police notification was declined.

On March 11 at 3:05 p.m. a student reported that his backpack and laptop were missing from the 12th floor library at Warren Weaver Hall. A police report was filed.

On March 12 at 9:30 p.m. a student reported being the victim of an online scam in Gramercy Green. A police report was filed.

On March 21 at 1:52 p.m. Public Safety reported that a non-NYU male attempted to remove items from the NYU Bookstore without paying for them. The male was apprehended and arrested by NYPD.

On March 29 at 7:50 p.m. a student reported that their backpack was missing from a locker in the Palladium Athletic Facility. A police report was filed.

On April 3 at 9:35 a.m. a student reported that their bicycle was stolen from a railing in front of Vanderbilt Hall. Police notification was declined.

On April 3 at 3:20 p.m. a staff member reported that a piece of art was missing from an eighth floor stairwell in the Kimmel Center for University Life. A police report was filed.

On April 6 at 1:55 p.m. a student reported that their umbrella was missing from a locker in the Dental Center.

On April 10 at 8:50 a.m. a student reported that their gym bag was missing from a study lounge in the Basic Science Building. Police notification was declined.

On April 12 at 3:11 p.m. a student reported that their bicycle was missing from its lock attached to a sign on Washington Square South at LaGuardia Place. A police report was filed.

On April 12 at 3:46 p.m. a staff member reported that a piece of equipment was missing from a classroom in Furman Hall. A police report was filed.

On April 13 at 5 p.m. a student reported that cash was missing from their wallet left in their room in Third North Residence Hall. Police notification was declined.

On April 17 at 4:45 p.m. a student at D’Agostino Hall reported that they were the victim of a telephone scam. A police report was filed.

On April 18 at 5:40 p.m. a student reported that their bicycle, which had been on a bike rack near 721 Broadway, was missing. Police notification was declined.

On April 18 at 9:20 p.m. a student in the Barney Building reported that her wallet was missing from a classroom. Police notification was declined.

On April 19 at 4:45 p.m. a student reported that funds were missing from their campus cash account. Police notification was declined.

On April 22 at 9:05 a.m. a student reported that their bicycle was missing from a bike rack at 721 Broadway. Police notification was declined.

On April 23 at 6 p.m. a student reported that their bicycle was missing from a handrail at Schwartz Plaza. Police notification was declined.

On April 24 at 9:25 a.m. a staff member reported that their laptop was missing from their office in the Dental Center. A police report was filed.

On April 24 at 10:15 p.m. a student reported that their bicycle was missing from the Tisch bike rack. Police notification was declined.

On April 25 at 2:55 p.m. a student reported their backpack was missing from a classroom in the Global Center for Academic and Spiritual Life. Police notification was declined.

 

Controlled Substance

On Jan. 26 at 11:55 p.m. Public Safety responded to a report of a substance in Founders Residence Hall and recovered a small amount of marijuana.

On Jan. 30 at 10:30 p.m. Public Safety responded to a report of a controlled substance and recovered a small amount of marijuana at Third North.

On Feb. 11 at 11:11 a.m. Public Safety responded to a report of a controlled substance in Gramercy Green and recovered a small amount of marijuana.

On Feb. 13 at 4:50 a.m. Public Safety reported the confiscation of marijuana outside of the Genomics Building.

On Feb. 26 at 11:30 p.m. Public Safety recovered a small amount of marijuana from a dorm room in Third North.

On March 5 at 3:09 a.m. Public Safety responded to a report of a controlled substance in Rubin Hall and confiscated a small amount of marijuana. The incident was referred to the Office of the Student Conduct and Community Standards.

On March 7 at 10:13 p.m. Public Safety responded to a report of a controlled substance in University Hall and confiscated a small amount of marijuana. The incident was referred to Community Standards.

On April 10 at 4:26 p.m. Public Safety received a report of a controlled substance and recovered a small amount of marijuana in Broome Street Residential College.

On April 22 at 1 p.m. Public Safety responded to a report of a controlled substance in Founders Hall and recovered a small amount of marijuana.

On April 26 at 1:05 a.m. Public Safety responded to a report of a controlled substance in Palladium and recovered a small amount of marijuana.

 

Harassment

On Jan. 31 at 4:18 p.m. a professor reported that they received harassing emails from an unknown source. Police notification was declined.

On Feb. 13 at 5:52 p.m. a student reported that they were harassed by an unknown male in Gramercy Green. Police notification was declined.

On Feb. 23 at 10:30 a.m. an employee reported being harassed by another employee in the loading dock area of Lipton Residence Hall. The incident is under investigation.

On March 6 at 6:31 p.m. Public Safety received a report of a harassment in front of 19 University Pl. A police report was filed.

On March 21 at 12:30 p.m. a student reported being harassed in Bobst and over phone calls and text messages. The incident is under investigation.

On March 21 at 12:45 p.m. a student reported that an unknown male harassed them while walking on Washington Place. Police notification was declined.

On March 29 at 12:25 a.m. a student reported being harassed by a non-NYU male via electronic messages. A police report was filed.

On March 29 at 2:15 p.m. a student reported being harassed in Kimmel and later via phone calls by an unknown male. A police report was filed.

On April 6 at 12:08 a.m. a student in Rubin reported that they had received harassing text messages.

On April 18 at 4:08 p.m. a student group on campus reported that they had received harassing messages on Facebook.

On April 20 at 5 p.m. a student reported that they were harassed by an unknown male near the corner of Broadway and West Fourth Street. A police report was filed.

 

Criminal Mischief

On Jan. 22 at 9:30 p.m. Public Safety reported graffiti painted on an entrance door of NYU Tandon’s Rogers Hall. The report is under investigation.

On Jan. 24 at 7:11 a.m. Public Safety reported graffiti painted on an emergency exit door at 19 University Pl. The report is under investigation.

On Jan. 25 at 6:32 a.m. Public Safety reported that an unknown male kicked a bucket into the front door of the NYU Senior House, which caused the door to crack. A police report was filed.

On Jan. 31 at 8:20 a.m. Public Safety found graffiti on an outdoor trash can outside 726 Broadway. A police report was filed.

On Feb. 2 at 8:56 p.m. Public Safety received a report of window damage in the Global Center for Academic and Spiritual Life due to a thrown projectile. A police report was filed.

On Feb. 8 at 8:20 a.m. Public Safety reported observing graffiti on the exterior of 238 Thompson St.

On April 19 at 8 a.m. a staff member reported graffiti painted on the side of the building at 105 E. 17th Street.

 

Trespassing

On April 25 at 10:35 a.m. a staff member reported that two non-NYU males were found trespassing at 25 Waverly Pl.

On Feb. 14 at 6:45 p.m. Public Safety responded to a report of a non-NYU unknown male trespassing in the Tisch Hall bike rack. A police report was filed.

On April 16 at 2:17 a.m. a report was received by Public Safety of a non-NYU male trespassing in 721 Broadway. A police report was filed and summons issued.

 

Rape

On Feb.12 at 11:07 a.m. a non-NYU guest reported that they were sexually assaulted in Gramercy Green.

On April 21 at 1:15 p.m. a student reported that they were sexaully assaulted in the Green House at Seventh Street in February.

 

Forcible Fondling

On Jan. 27 at 12:50 a.m. a student reported that they were forcibly fondled by another NYU student. This case is still under investigation in Brittany.

On Feb. 13 at 12 a.m. a student reported they were forcibly fondled in University Hall.

 

Simple Assault

On Jan. 27 at 12:50 a.m. Public Safety reported that a Public Safety Officer was assaulted by a student at Brittany. A police report was filed.

 

Dating Violence

On Feb. 2 at 4:13 p.m. Public Safety reported an incident of dating violence at Rogers Hall. Police notification was declined.

 

Arson

On Feb. 14 at 10:30 a.m. Public Safety received a report of bulletin-board fliers with burned edges in a residence hall. A police report was filed.

 

Authorized Technician Repair — reclassified from Criminal Mischief

On Feb. 12 at 11 p.m. Public Safety reported that a security camera was disabled by an unknown male inside Rogers Hall.

 

Motor Vehicle Theft

On Feb. 25 at 7:10 a.m. an employee’s car was reported as missing from near Meyer Hall. A police report was filed.

 

Burglary

On March 4 at 7:54 p.m. a student reported that cash was missing from the desk drawer in her bedroom in Founders Hall. A police report was filed.

 

Assault

On March 9 at 5 p.m. a student reported being assaulted by another student in their room in Lafayette Residence Hall. Police notification was declined.
